Laying the Foundation

I’ll never forget the day the crew came to pour the concrete footings for the house we were building. After all the planning and excavation, our project was finally beginning to take shape.

When the Jewish exiles returned to Jerusalem, the magnificent temple of Solomon lay in ruins. The temple of the LORD was the place where He dwelt among His people and manifested His glory—a place of corporate worship and identity. The time had come to lay the foundation and begin rebuilding once again.

David asks in Psalm 11:3, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” There is only one answer: lay the foundation again. That is what spiritual renewal is all about—returning to the foundations of the Christian life and making sure they are solid: repentance, God’s Word, prayer, worship, obedience, and faith.

So, the question for each of us is simple but searching: How are your foundations? If they’ve been neglected, cracked, or compromised, the answer isn’t despair—it’s renewal. God invites you to return, to lay the foundation again.  A fresh start with God always begins by rebuilding what matters most.

Press On,

Pastor Brian Richard
