Construction Season

I figured that heading would get your attention! In the Midwest, construction season should finally be winding down due to the weather—but in the life of a Christian, it’s always construction season. We are all works in progress, potholes and all. The God of the Bible desires spiritual renewal in His children. He wants to reveal His glory through a renewed people who live out their faith before a watching world.
The phrase I emphasized—and would like you to memorize—is this: “The work of God will be done by the people of God who respond to the move of God.” I drew this from Ezra 1:5, where it says, “…everyone whose spirit God had stirred to go up and rebuild the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem.” We know that only a relatively small percentage of the Jews in Babylon actually returned. The reasons likely varied, but many had grown too comfortable in their familiar surroundings to leave.
I wonder what opportunities God brings into our lives—and into His church—that we fail to respond to because we’re simply too comfortable where we are.
I encourage you to take a few moments right now to evaluate where you are with God. Has He been moving in your heart? And how have you responded? When God prompts you to pray, give, repent, reconcile, serve, or share Christ—respond. Don’t let comfort keep you from obedience.
Press On,
Pastor Brian Richard
