Before You Were Born

As a local church pastor, I have a God-given responsibility to confront the moral and spiritual issues of the day that affect our lives. Abortion is one such issue that is not easy or popular to talk about because it is almost impossible to find someone who is neutral on the subject. Over the years it has continued to be one of the most emotionally divisive issues in America. Since the Supreme Court handed down its infamous decision in Roe. Vs. Wade in 1973, over 62 million unborn babies have died legally in America.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter what I think, or you think, or a medical professional, or a politician, compared to what God has said. The Bible clearly teaches that life in the womb is formed and framed by a sovereign God and is sacred to Him. Human life then is God-owned and God-imprinted with His image. Abortion strikes at the heart of God.

It really shouldn’t surprise anyone that the destruction of human life is a spiritual issue. Every attack on human life strikes at the very image, the reflection, of who God and His Son Jesus are. That’s why the concept known as the sanctity of human life is so basic and important. When the Enemy convinces a scared young woman to destroy her preborn child, he scores one more strike in his campaign to harm everything God loves.

Our challenge is to navigate this delicate topic through a biblical framework with a spirit of love, grace, and compassion. The gospel of Jesus Christ offers hope and forgiveness to everyone. No matter what sin is in your past, the grace of God is bigger!

I want to encourage you to promote God’s view of life to those around you. Talk to your children & grandchildren about the importance of sexual abstinence. Vote for those that support life and pray that God would change the hearts and minds of those with opposing views.
