Turning the World Upside Right

Acts 17:6 is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It has long been highlighted as a call to action in my life. The charge against Paul and Silas in front of the city officials was, "These men have turned the world upside down." This was clearly not meant to be a compliment. It was an accusation and criticism. When you think about it, the apostles weren’t turning the world upside down, it was already upside down, ever since the Fall in Genesis the world has been upside down. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only thing that can turn things around. Everywhere the gospel is preached it changes the way people see religion, God, politics, church, families, marriages, and personal relationships. That’s why the greatest compliment the church could receive would be to have people complain that we are turning the world upside down and if we’re not, what does that say about us?

The world we are living in desperately needs to be upset. let me share a few ways you can commit to being a world-changer.

  1. Observe your world. See the people God has placed around you that need to hear.

  2. Speak - Paul "reasoned" with people. Speak truth into the people you see.

  3. Determine to stick with it. Rejection is to be expected so don't be surprised when people don't want to hear what you have to say.

  4. Leave the results with God. It's not your job to "convert" people, it's your responsibility to share the message and let God do the heavy lifting.
