The Amazing Resurrection

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the crowning event of all history! C.S. Lewis said, “Rather than hearing new ideas, sometimes we need to be reminded of old truths.” This is a truth that never gets old for us. In a little over a month, a group of us are going to be in Israel. On the last day of our trip, we will go to the Garden Tomb which is a tomb from the first century in the approximate area where Christ was placed. Over the years there have been millions of people that will have visited that tomb - but there’s only been ONE who was laid in it dead, and walked out. That’s true! That’s not wishful thinking or some concocted myth to fool ourselves into feeling good at a funeral. The resurrection of Christ really happened and because of it - the implications are literally life-changing for everyone who accepts Jesus as their Master and Savior.

Because of the resurrection of Christ, it could happen again for YOU!

The big bugaboo in life is death, it freaks us out! We don’t know what to do with it. We don’t like to think about it, or even be around it. We would do anything to escape it. From Genesis to Revelation the theme of death returns over and over; you just can’t get away from it. The biggest question in the universe then is, is there life after death, and if so, where will I go?

The Bible states that the resurrection will happen again. It’s one thing to hear that death isn’t the end, but it’s a whole different story when you understand and believe that death is not the end for YOU. Many don’t think that God is interested in them. I’ve heard it all…”I’m of no use to God, you don’t know what I’ve done…I’m unlovable….” Let me remind you that the Bible tells us that Jesus came for all mankind, not just the elite, rich, smart, talented or good.

Nobodies are exactly the somebody’s that Jesus came for. He does His best work in hopeless situations.

The risen Christ means everything to us. I would encourage you to spend some time alone this week in reflection on what this means to you. It means you can have a forgiven past. It means you can have a fresh start. It means you can have eternal life. It means that although death may take you, it cannot keep you, and so much more!
